It has been over a year since Samsung announced the successor to its Galaxy Tab S8 series. However, the latest leaks and rumors suggest that the company has begun work on the Galaxy Tab S9, and the wait may be coming to an end.
This morning, Ice Universe revealed the specifications of the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra on Weibo. As the blogger mentioned, the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will have the same body dimensions as its predecessor. It is worth noting that the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra measures 326.4 x 208.6 x 5.5 mm.
Its weight has increased by 11 grams, reaching 737 grams (the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Wi-Fi version weighs 726 grams). Other specifications, such as the display, chipset, battery, and charging speed, remain the same as its predecessor.
The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra retains the same 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2.5K resolution (1848 x 2960) and a 120Hz refresh rate. The battery capacity remains 11200mAh, while the charging speed is 45W. The tablet is expected to come with a Samsung EP-T4510 charger.
The Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. It features the following cores: one Cortex-X3 core clocked at 3.36 GHz, two Cortex-A715 and two Cortex-A710 high-performance cores, and three Cortex-A510 efficiency cores.
The blogger also mentioned at the end that it will come with 16GB of LPDDR5X memory. The entire series will be IP68-certified, meaning the Galaxy Tab S9 series will be water and dust-resistant.
(Update: April 6, 2023, 3:00 AM UTC) The blogger also revealed that the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra’s display will support true black standards and a 120% DCI-P3 color gamut. The black brightness is below 0.0005 nits, while outdoor visibility is also enhanced, and the display supports screen calibration.
The blogger has not yet disclosed the release date. However, Samsung is likely to launch the Galaxy Tab S9 series alongside the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 at the Galaxy UNPACKED event in August 2023.
